Under clinically recommended conditions of use. In vitro testing is not necessarily indicative of clinical results.
The coating is composed of silver.
Yes, the entire wire is coated.
Studies* have shown that the manufacturing process for the coating offers scratch resistance due to the hardness and adhesion of the metal layer.
*Data on File, G&H Orthodontics
Verification testing* shows that the coated wires have similar friction levels as non-coated wires.

Verification testing has shown the coating has no impact on wire size. The coating layer is very thin (15 micro-inches), so a coated 21x25 wire, for example, remains the same size as an uncoated one.
The new aesthetic archwires are available in both NiTi and SS. For more details, check out the references at www.ghorthodontics.com.
Yes. Wires can still be crimped after coating.
Corrosion testing was performed and shows that coated wire has very little corrosion of the silver or any of the materials comprised in the wire. Wires undergoing corrosion testing showed to be visually similar before and after. The wires remain visually and clinically safe, with no impact on performance or patient safety.
